I'm suing someone and I just learned that they filed bankruptcy. What if anything can I do about this?

If the bankruptcy is relatively recent and the civil case is close to trial (i.e., discovery is completed, etc.), the bankruptcy court may lift the stay for the limited purpose of determining liability and damages; however, the stay would remain in force and effect with regard to enforcing any judgment entered pursuant to the relief from stay order.
